Orange Beef

Ingredients

Gravy

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest (zest is the skin of the orange)
  • Half an orange, juiced (about 3 tablespoons)

Broccoli and Beef

  • 2 crowns broccoli, chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 3/4 pound boneless sirloin, cut into 1/4 -inch strips
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Directions

In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch, water, soy sauce, zest, and juice together. Set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat.

Sauté the beef until browned.

Add the garlic, ginger, and chopped broccoli and sauté for 1 minute.

Stir in the cornstarch mixture and simmer the stir-fry until thickened. Top with sesame seeds and serve with brown rice. Season with salt and pepper.

To cook brown rice, combine 1 cup rice with 2 cups cold water. Bring to a simmer and add 1 teaspoon salt. Cover and let simmer for 25 minutes. Remove from heat. Let sit covered for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork.
