Mimi Chacin

Common Threads staffers come from varying backgrounds, but share a concern for children, a commitment to positive social change, and a love of good food and the communities food can create and sustain.

Mimi was born in Spain, raised in Venezuela and for the past 13 years, calls Miami home. She holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from Boston University and a Diploma of Culinary Arts from The Art Institute, Ft. Lauderdale. She comes from Miami's acclaimed Michy's restaurant where she forged her culinary skills under Chef Michelle Bernstein. As the daughter of Colombian and American parents who love to cook, she appreciates the benefits food, cooking and eating as a family has on a child's healthy development, and is dedicated to passing on that experience and appreciation to kids everywhere. She has two sons, Diego and Ian, and as a family they enjoy eating anything Japanese.
