Common Threads' Summer Camp offers cooking, gardening, movement, and culture classes designed to give campers a full curriculum centered around health, well-being, and cultural awareness.

Who:                     Boys and Girls ages 8 – 11(going into grades 3-6 in Fall 2009) who want to cook, move, garden and get outside!

Where:                 Washburne Culinary Institute at Kennedy King College

740 W. 63rdSt.

When:                  Monday-Friday

Session 1: June 22rd - July 10th (no camp on July 3rd)

Session 2: July 13th - July 31st

 Time:                     12 – 4 p.m.

 Cost:                     Free to children participating in the free or reduced lunch program.  For children who do not participate in the free or reduced lunch program camp is $150.00 a week or $450.00 for the whole session.

In partnership with the Con Agra Foods Foundation, Common Threads will provide more than 160 children, ages 8-12, with the opportunity to learn the importance of nutrition and physical well-being while fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity through an innovative summer camp program.  Each camper will enjoy daily classes in healthy cooking, world dance traditions, and organic gardening; creating a unique summer experience for children from the Kenwood and South Side Neighborhoods of Chicago.  Con Agra Foods Foundation is committed to nourishing kids today so that they can flourish tomorrow!
