Common Threads’ Chef Instructors are professional chefs and teachers, trained in Common Threads’ unique curriculum, who teach the students at each of our thirty sites throughout Chicago, as well as in Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, DC. Chef Instructors nurture and mentor our students, while leading them through the prep, cooking, clean-up and, of course, eating of the three hands-on ethnic recipes each week!

Samantha got her start in the culinary world as a high school intern. This internship with Chef Evan Deluty at Restaurant Torch led her to achieve her BS in Culinary Arts from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. While in college she received the Georges Perrier Scholar Award inviting her to intern under Chef Georges Perrier at his prestigious five-star restaurant: Le Bec Fin. Samantha followed college with graduate school, flying to Australia to study with the Le Cordon Bleu’s Gastronomy program at the University of Adelaide. After obtaining a MA she chose to return to the US in order to pursue culinary education and to promote healthy and wholesome food lifestyles. Along with working at Sagebrush, she works with a non-profit as a teacher; instructing children from low-income backgrounds how to cook wholesome and culturally diverse meals. Although she tries to maintain healthy eating habits herself, Samantha has a weakness for fall-off-the bone BBQ ribs and chocolate milkshakes.
