Common Threads’ Chef Instructors are professional chefs and teachers, trained in Common Threads’ unique curriculum, who teach the students at each of our thirty sites throughout Chicago, as well as in Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, DC. Chef Instructors nurture and mentor our students, while leading them through the prep, cooking, clean-up and, of course, eating of the three hands-on ethnic recipes each week!

Cheryl is a recent retiree from the Chicago Park District. She taught visual art for 30 years. She introduced and directed successful children's nature programs to the CPD in 1993, which ran for 19 years.She is also a Master Gardener and a certified Herbal Therapist, who is very passionate about sharing her experience of gardening and nature with children. Her art, nature and herbal background bring a new dimension to the Common Threads gardening program.
